Orca Design

After the good response on the Salmon Run design (see earlier posting), we ordered more coastal designs - these are the treasures we celebrate here on the West Coast and the season starts NOW!

This is important: each design comes in (the same) over 40 different shapes and sizes. They are safely shipped in "Campbell River" crates. Ask for details!

Fresh Fish (Pottery) arrived!

We just got in a huge selection of Maggie Shaw's raku creatures. Beautiful colours, big variety, great detail, good price! See the detailed list of products in our Pottery Department!

Raku pottery is created in a sophisticated process which generates amazing colours and shines. The Raku process is exciting and unpredictable, it is nearly impossible to get the same results twice. Raku is removed from the kiln at 1,800 degrees F. and placed in a reduction chamber containing sawdust and paper, where it immediately catches on fire. It is then covered over and left to "reduce" (causing a lack of oxygen). The result is pottery with iridescent, crackle and metallic colours not found in other forms of pottery.

Maggie lives in our neighbour community Comox. With a degree in music and theatre, Maggie has never lost her "hands on" art form which has brought her back to pottery. Her enthgusiasm to learn and expand her craft has brought her to work in high-fired and Raku pottery. Her strong childhood background from a fishing community in Nova Scotia has inspired her to create a series of whales, salmon, rock fish, star fish and many whimsical fish. These pieces have been created for your pleasure and are a tribute to our salmon industry in BC!

Every piece has a wall hanger.
All items come in same shapes but with variations of colours.

We ship to any destination. As you know, Raku is fragile, but we wrap it carefully!

New to the store: Coastal Treasures

We just brought in the "Salmon Run" series of Artable's Coastal Treasures, more designs will follow! All plates are boxed in solid crates with "Campbell River, BC" burnt in. Debra Durrer from Calgary has hand crafted this beautiful decorative and functional pottery - "Where Art and Table Meet".

Christina Lindstrom, Nanaimo

For nearly 15 years now we carry Christina Lindstrom's pottery designs, at first in our Pier Street Gallery, later on pottery expanded into the Needle & Arts Centre and adds to the artsy and crafty flair.

Christina and her husband reside in Nanaimo and are originally from Sweden, which is reflected in her designs. Her main lines are the light glaze on white clay and the blue or green glazes on red clay, but she always tries interesting new products and glazes. All her pottery is lead free, diswasher, microwave and oven safe. You find tea pots and mugs, a variety of bowls, bakers, canisters, plates, Sushi dishes and much more. We also take custom orders!

Ed Oldfield, Powell River

Last year we started with Ed Oldfield's Raku pottery. Ed lives in Powell River and specializes on Raku bowls and limited editions Raku Salmon and other fish species, mounted on driftwood.

Barb Hall, Campbell River

Recently we added Barb Hall's (Mary Potter) distinct blue green pottery which nicely complements the other product lines in our store. Barb lives in Campbell River.

This summer you'll also find us with pottery on our attractive Pier Street Farmers Market, every Sunday from 9 am till 2 pm in the vicinity of the famous Discovery Fishing Pier and the new Maritime Heritage Centre.
